Catamaran Manta

Handover … Drei Wochen sind wir nun schon in Lorient. Die Übernahme von Manta sollte eigentlich schon längst abgeschlossen sein, aber es sind sehr viele Mängel vorhanden die noch nicht erledigt sind. Unsere Erwartung war eigentlich dass wir eine viel schmerzfreier Übernahme haben werden. Die Nerven liegen blank und wir sehnen uns auf den Zeitpunkt hin bis wir los segeln und endlich die Probleme hinter uns lassen können.  We have now been in Lorient for three weeks. The handover of Manta should really have been completed by now, but there are still many issues that haven’t been resolved yet. We had actually expected the takeover to be much smoother. Our nerves are frayed, and we’re longing for the moment when we can finally set sail and leave these problems behind us.    

Splash day … Lange haben wir dem grossen Tag entgegen gefiebert. Nicht nur wir sondern auch die Werftarbeiter haben den sonnigen Tag und das grossartige Schauspiel genossen als Manta vom Trockenen ins Meer gehoben wurde. Zuvor sind Lissi und ich die über 1200 km mit dem Campervan von Balzers nach Lorient gefahren und haben unsere Sachen die wir in unserm zukünftigen Heim brauchen auf der Werft deponiert. We had been eagerly looking forward to the big day for a long time. Not only us, but also the shipyard workers enjoyed the sunny day and the spectacular moment when Manta was lifted from dry land into the sea. Before that, Lissi and I had driven over 1,200 km by campervan from Balzers to Lorient and deposited the things we will need in our future home at the shipyard.    

Isle of Man ... Alle erforderlichen Formulare sind an die Isle of Man  ship registry übermittelt. Der surveyor war letzten Mittwoch auf der Werft in Lorient und hat für Manta das certificate of survey  ausgestellt. Somit ist die Registrierung praktisch abgeschlossen. Die Versicherung ist beantragt und der Hafenplatz für nächsten Winter gebucht. Am 3. März ist splash day ! Manta wird vom trockenen ins bretonische Meer gehoben. Das wird ein spannender Moment für uns alle werden und ein neuer Abschnitt auf den wir lang hingearbeitet haben. All the required forms are submitted  forms to the Isle of Man Ship Registry. The surveyor was at the shipyard last Wednesday and issued the certificate of survey for Manta. This means that the registration is now practically complete. The insurance has been applied for, and the berth for next winter has been booked. On March 3rd is splash day! Besuch in Lorient  ... So langsam nimmt Manta Formen an. Wir waren vom 12. Bis 17. November in Lorient und haben uns sowohl die Werft in den U-Boot Bunkern als auch den Fortschritt der Arbeiten an Manta angeschaut. Lorient und die Bretagne haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Leute sind sehr freundlich und das Wetter hat es auch gut mit uns gemeint.  Slowly, Manta is taking shape. From November 12 to 17, we visited Lorient and had the opportunity to explore both the shipyard in the U-boat bunker and the progress on Manta . We found Lorient and Brittany to be very appealing. The people are extremely friendly and the weather has been favorable to us as well.
