Gibraltar … Von Lorient bis Gibraltar sind wir rund 1100 Seemeilen gesegelt. Dafür haben wir 9 Tage gebraucht und wurden von Skipper Géry Bouchet begleitet. Den Orcas sind wir erfolgreich ausgewichen, dafür hatten wir zu unserer grossen Freude ständig Begleitung von Delfinen.
Die Strecke war recht anstrengend da wir Tag und Nacht durchgesegelt sind und uns im Schichtbetrieb ständig abgewechselt haben. Als Schattenseite beleibt uns in Erinnerung als wir bemerkt haben dass Wasser in den Steuerbord Motorraum bei Wellen von hinten eindringt. Im Nachhinein nicht ein riesiges Problem aber trotzdem ärgerlich und nicht was man von einem neuen Boot erwartet.
Jetzt liegen wir erst mal sicher in der Queensway Quay Marina und geniessen die britische Atmosphäre und die Sonne Gibraltars. Danke an Géry für die professionelle und kompetente Unterstützung auf dieser nicht einfachen Passage.
From Lorient to Gibraltar, we sailed around 1,100 nautical miles. It took us 9 days, and we were accompanied by skipper Géry Bouchet throughout the journey. We successfully avoided the orcas, and to our great delight we were constantly accompanied by dolphins instead.
The passage was quite demanding, as we sailed day and night continuously, taking turns in shifts around the clock. One unpleasant memory was discovering that water was entering the starboard engine room when waves came from behind. In hindsight, it was not a major problem, but still frustrating and certainly not something you expect from a new boat.
For now, we are safely moored at Queensway Quay Marina, enjoying the British atmosphere and the sunshine of Gibraltar. Many thanks to Géry for the professional and highly competent support during this challenging passage.
